What a beautiful memorial and tribute. My condolences to Bonniesue and all George’s family.
I have fond memories of George from early in life. He had a house at the end of the same road my grandparents lived on. Some of my first independent excursions were taking trails and cutting through neighbor’s yards, to make the solo trek to visit George. Upon my unexpected arrival, he would invite me in and make me feel completely at home. Although those random visits were never preceded by a phone call, he was always truly welcoming.
While we did not always have the proximity of being neighbors, George remained an important spiritual presence through his work as a practitioner. His prayers and faith were a part of the support that helped us through many challenging experiences. From physical injuries and illness, to boneheaded adolescence, I personally gave my mom a lot of opportunities to call on George for prayerful work. His guidance and support were an integral and important part of getting to the other side of those times.
George embodied the role of spiritual practitioner and was exemplary in his living of it. He clearly touched many people’s lives and gave generously of his time to his community. He “walked the walk” in a truly exceptional way.
Thank you for all you did and shared, George.
Indeed you did give your mom opportunities to call George. The night you were expected home from rock climbing around 6 & arrived about 11 PM was only one example from many years ago that remains vivid in memory🙏🏻
